독해 중 읽은 부분 예문 정리

 

 

1. More A than B: B라기보다 A다

I’m more a workhorse than a racehorse. 

 

2. 수동태

I was raised in a white-collar household, so I didn’t know much about entrepreneurship, but fortunately my wife’s family ran a business, so her natural intuition was a great help.

 

3. 감정을 나타내는 동사의 과거분사형 수동태

I worked from morning till late at night, until I was exhausted. 

 

4. 양보절 No matter how (+no matter how 형용사 a 명사)

No matter how great a workhorse I might have been, I never would have been able to make it on my own. 

- 하루키가 'never would have been able to make~'로 썼다. 정확하게 수정한다면 'I would never have been able to make it~'이다. 

 

5. 강조의 do

1) If I did win it I’d become busy with interviews and writing assignments, and I was afraid this would interfere with running the club.

 

2) At that time it was pretty rural, and there weren’t any decent sports facilities around. But they did have roads. 

 

 

6. 이유의 접속사 that

So I didn’t have to think too much about which sport to choose—not that I had much of a choice—when I decided to go running.

As a result, though my grades weren’t the kind you have to hide from people, I don’t have any memory of being praised for getting a good grade or being the best in anything.
